The kitchen is not a shopping cart
A KOT has modifiers, course notes, and a table number. If the cashier uses a kirana cart, the ticket never matches what left the pass.
Restaurants & cafes
Tables, KOT, and GST on the bill — Restaurant POS on SMB, not a clone of the kirana counter.

GST invoices and stock on Startup — no floor POS

Restaurant POS: tables, KOT, modifiers, settle
Separate
Retail POS is a different app for barcode counters
What it is
Restaurant billing is not retail barcode billing. The floor has tables, KOTs, modifiers, and a settle step. Mixing that into a grocery POS is how tickets get lost.
TiBook’s Restaurant POS (SMB) is a separate app from Retail POS: sections and tables, dine-in and takeaway, kitchen notes, KOT print, service charge and tips. GST invoices still share the same items, taxes, and stock as the rest of the books.
Restaurant POS is on SMB (₹199/month), not Startup. Enable Restaurant POS and Retail POS separately if you also run a sweet counter.

Why it matters
A grocery scan-and-bill screen loses tickets the moment a table splits a bill.
A KOT has modifiers, course notes, and a table number. If the cashier uses a kirana cart, the ticket never matches what left the pass.
Restaurant service, packaged goods, and alcohol (where licensed) can sit on different tax groups. The bill has to print the split your CA will file.
Occupancy, unpaid tables, and tips are not a cash-drawer total. You need the floor status, then a GST invoice when the table closes.
Bottled water and retail sweets reduce inventory. That catalog should be the same as the GST books, not a second app.
How to
Invoicing is free. The floor app is SMB. Enable Restaurant POS only if you have tables or a KOT printer.
Create the business, add GSTIN, and add dishes and drinks as items with tax groups. Confirm food GST rates with your CA after slab changes.
Open Apps and turn on Restaurant POS — not Retail POS. They are different floors.
Indoor, outdoor, or rooms. Mark tables free, occupied, or billing so the floor is visible.
Add modifiers and kitchen notes. Print or send the KOT. The GST bill comes at settle, not as a fake retail cart.
Service charge and tips as your setup allows. The saved bill is a sales invoice in the same books as purchases and expenses.
Sales summary, outstanding if you run credit, and P&L. Ask TiBook Agent for today’s sales if you prefer chat.

Product
Free, occupied, and billing. Sections for indoor, outdoor, or private rooms. The map is the floor — not a barcode search box.
Print KOTs with modifiers and kitchen notes. Settle when the table is done. Takeaway orders exist if you do not run a full dine-in map.
Item tax groups drive CGST/SGST or IGST. The public GST calculator is arithmetic, not your HSN list. After the 2025 rate changes, confirm slabs with your CA.
The same item catalog as the rest of TiBook. Packed beverages and retail add-ons reduce quantity on sale. Full recipe/BOM costing is not a manufacturing module.
A settled table is a sales invoice. Reprint, PDF, or share later. Purchases and expenses sit beside it so food cost is not a WhatsApp folder.
Enable Retail POS separately for a barcode counter. Do not mix KOT and barcode on one screen.
If a demo only shows a grocery cart, it is not restaurant POS.
KOT and tables as a first-class flow
Not a note field on a retail bill.
GST on the settled invoice
The tax invoice is what the CA files from — not a kitchen chit.
Stock that moves with the bill
Packed SKUs should reduce quantity. Recipe explosion is optional elsewhere.
Honest packaging
Floor POS on a paid plan is fine if invoicing is free. TiBook: Restaurant POS is SMB.
| Need | Retail / grocery POS | TiBook |
|---|---|---|
| Order path | Scan SKU, pay, done. | Table → KOT → settle → GST invoice. |
| Kitchen | No ticket, or a pasted note. | KOT print with modifiers. |
| GST | Often one rate for everything. | Tax group per item; CA confirms slabs. |
| Plan | Sometimes bundled into “POS”. | Startup invoices; Restaurant POS on SMB. |
