Expiry is a stock problem, not a footnote
If the bill does not know which batch left the drawer, you discover short-dated stock at audit, not at the counter.
Medical stores
Bill medicines with GST, keep batch and expiry on the item, and scan barcodes at the counter on SMB.

Honest
Not a schedule-H or hospital HIS engine
What it is
A medical store cannot treat stock like grocery. Batches and expiry matter. HSN and GST have to match the strip you sold, not a guess at month-end.
TiBook inventory supports batches and serials, barcodes, godowns, and purchase bills that increase stock. Retail POS on SMB is the counter. We are not a drug-licence or schedule-H compliance engine — your pharmacist still owns that.
TiBook does not replace specialised pharmacy ERP required by some licences. Batch/serial exist; drug schedule rules are yours.

Why it matters
Two batches of the same SKU are not interchangeable if expiry differs.
If the bill does not know which batch left the drawer, you discover short-dated stock at audit, not at the counter.
Clinics and hospitals claim ITC. A mistyped rate is an awkward conversation and a credit note.
Walk-ins will not wait for a 12-field invoice form. Scan, tax, print. Cash party for most strips.
Purchases increase stock. Sales reduce it. Outstanding on both sides if you give credit to a clinic.
How to
Create items with HSN and tax groups. Enable batching on SKUs that need a lot number and expiry.
Opening stock and purchase invoices increase quantity. Distributor parties keep payables honest.
Save the code on the item and print labels. USB HID scanners type into POS search.
Startup invoices from the desk. SMB Retail POS is the counter. Walk-ins can use a cash party.
Returns and credit notes correct the books and stock. Do not delete yesterday’s invoice.
Sales, purchases, outstanding. We do not file GSTR-1. We do not replace a licensed pharmacy ERP if your licence needs one.

Product
Sales and purchase invoices move stock. HSN and tax groups live on the item. Credit notes and returns correct mistakes.
Turn on batching or serialisation on items that need it. Expiry is stock control. TiBook is not a validated hospital pharmacy system.
Print labels, scan at Retail POS. Walk-in bills can use a cash party so you are not creating a patient file for every strip.
Distributor bills as purchases. Outstanding on both sides so you see what you owe and what credit customers still owe.
Keep shop-floor quantity separate from a back godown when you use locations.
P&L, daybook, outstanding on Startup. Ledgers on SMB. Filing stays on the GST portal.
Batch on the item, not only a note
If every SKU is a single pile, expiry tracking is theatre.
GST on the strip you sold
HSN and tax group on the item, not a month-end guess.
Counter that is actually POS
Scan on SMB. Desk invoices on Startup.
Honesty about licences
Drug schedule and pharmacy licence rules are yours, not the software’s.
| Need | Generic shop billing | TiBook |
|---|---|---|
| Batch / expiry | One quantity per name. | Batching when you enable it on the item. |
| Counter | Slow invoice form. | Retail POS on SMB; desk invoice on Startup. |
| HIS / claims | Sometimes promised. | Not a hospital HIS. Not insurance adjudication. |
| GST filing | Often “file from here”. | Invoices for the CA. We do not file. |
