How this looks in TiBook
How to
- 1On each item, set a barcode (or scan one in when editing the item). POS matches scans to that field.
- 2Open POS and focus the search box. Plug in a USB barcode scanner β most act as a keyboard and type the code followed by Enter.
- 3Scan an item; it adds to the cart. Scan again to increase quantity if your scanner sends repeated reads.
- 4From Items, use Print barcodes to generate labels for shelves (see inventory articles for label layout).
- 5Open the POS settings control (gear or modal on the POS screen) for counter-specific options such as default tax behaviour.
- 6Test with one known barcode before rush hour so staff know failed scans mean the item is missing a code.
Scanner types
USB and Bluetooth scanners that emulate a keyboard work without extra drivers. Camera-based scanning depends on your device browser β USB scanners are more reliable at the counter.
Keep barcodes unique per SKU. Duplicate codes make POS add the wrong item.
Item images in the grid help staff verify the scan when packaging looks similar.
