Allocate a payment to invoices
Apply a receipt or payment to one or more open invoices so each bill shows paid, part-paid, or still due.
How this looks in TiBook
How to
- 1Create or open a Payment In or Payment Out entry.
- 2After choosing the party and amount, look for Allocate to invoices (or the invoice picker on the same screen).
- 3TiBook lists open invoices for that customer or supplier with balance due.
- 4Tick the invoices this payment should clear. Enter how much goes to each line if you are splitting one payment.
- 5Confirm the allocated total matches the payment amount (or leave a small unallocated balance as advance).
- 6Save. Each invoice’s status updates to paid or partially paid.
Partial payments
A customer can pay ₹5,000 against a ₹10,000 invoice. Allocate ₹5,000 to that invoice; the rest stays on their outstanding until the next receipt.
One payment, many bills
Common when a distributor clears several delivery challans at once. Select multiple open invoices and split the amount until the payment is fully applied.
If you forgot to allocate at save time, edit the payment entry and adjust allocations — you do not need a second receipt.
Party Wise Outstanding in Reports only looks right when payments are allocated to the right invoices.
